Financial Services companies are currently implementing the Financial Services Board’s (FSB) Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) policy, which aims to regulate market conduct to ensure best practice and fairness to customers.

The TCF approach seeks to ensure that fair treatment of customers is embedded within the culture of financial firms by making sure customers fully understand the financial products they purchase and ensuring quality customer service before, during and after the sale.  It will also prevent post-sale abuses and other misconduct, while giving the FSB wide powers to discipline those who infringe its aims.

TCF lays down six outcomes which companies must adhere to and which are monitored by the FSB on a continuous basis. It is therefore important for employees to understand the fundamentals of TCF and how it needs to be implemented and adhered to in their areas of work.
